A Recent Customer Testimonial

“Parker created a beautiful pencil-on-paper portrait of my husband using a favorite photograph.  This was my first experience with commissioning an artist and Parker made everything easy each step of the way.  He provided guidance on the size and type of portrait that could be created and provided examples of paper types and backgrounds.  Parker also provided a range of pricing options.  Each of the options was well worth considering.  The portrait arrived in about two weeks, and it was remarkable.  A very fine likeness wonderfully rendered. The portrait was going to be an anniversary gift later in the year, but it arrived on Valentine’s Day and was so special that it became a Valentine gift.  My husband was so surprised and so delighted.  We took it to the framers that day.

Parker is a portraitist of the first order.  If you are looking for a special gift to honor a loved one, or even yourself, I can’t think of a finer or more original git.”

What makes commissions so special? Why get one?

Commissioned drawings are completely personalized to the individual or brand & centered around aspects that create an emotional connection to the work from the buyer. They are never reproduced or made into prints. The drawings are truly one-of-a-kind.

THE PROCESS

  1. The process typically starts with an email, phone call or meeting to discuss basic ideas, inspiration, sizing, visual direction and usage so I can start to estimate rates, materials needed and how long the commission will take.

  2. After a rate is finalized and a turn - around time is estimated, a deposit (or full amount) will need to be paid then I begin on a series of very simplistic rough drafts. The drafts will outline the basic composition and layout of elements.

  3. From there, I send all drafts to the client so the client can choose their favorite version. I can then begin on the final piece!

  4. Once the commission is complete and the full payment is made the drawing(s) is ready for delivery.

    • If the commission is intended for digital usage only, the drawing(s) will be scanned or photographed at a high resolution, then sent to the client via Dropbox.

    • For tattoos, a high res photo will be taken and the client can request to have the drawing delivered for an extra fee.

    • If the drawing(s) is to be displayed in a home, shop, hotel etc. then the drawing will be prepared for delivery asap upon completion.

    • For murals & large scale printing, please contact pthorntonart@gmail.com
